Bayreuther Festspiele
Founded by Richard Wagner and opened in 1876, the Bayreuther Festspiele is one of the world's most prestigious opera festivals, dedicated exclusively to Wagner's works. The Festspielhaus, built to Wagner's own specifications on the Grüner Hügel, seats 1,925 in a wooden amphitheatre-style auditorium renowned for its exceptional acoustics and hidden orchestra pit. The festival runs each summer and tickets are among the most sought-after in the classical music world.
